The crazy thing called LOVE

Taman Melati // 24 Apr 2010 // by Nuruljannah Bte Hj Usop // 1 person likes this story
“I..I did it again!” Nafisa’s face imploded with embarrassment.

“Okay, what have you done now?” Zara stifled her laughter. She shook her head when reminiscing her friend’s peculiar behaviour. She knew her friend had suffered from an insidious “disease” which was called “love”.

“Well, this time is going to haunt for the rest of my life!” she winced while her fingers unconsciously crumpling the front cover of Time Magazine.

“Um Nafisa, not sounding to be rude or anything but that is not mine. It’s Yana’s. Well you know she is very meticulous about her things,” she curved a smile hoping that she would stop destroying further her scary roommate’s quite expensive magazine. She didn’t want to get killed.

“Oops, sorry,” she let out a chuckle. “I didn’t realize what I was doing. Ugh I really hate this feeling. It made me completely deranged.”

“Yes, it is,” Zara guffawed. “Alright, proceed with the story.”

“Okay, I bumped into him on my way to the class and so I smiled at him and yes he smiled back and...” her laughter interjected.

“And?” Zara’s curiosity was piqued.

“And I was filled with elation till I didn’t realize I was smiling foolishly and danced a little bit..”

“You danced?” she was laughing hysterically. “Don’t tell me you did that awful dance of yours”.

“Yes and it’s called “happy dance” by the way. Well, I couldn’t control myself! He SMILED at me,” she said elatedly.“Besides, there were no people around me that time so I did the happy dance! I didn’t realize he SAW my stupid dance and he heard me saying clearly woohoo, he smiled!”

“Oh my god! You got to be kidding me!” Zara coughed because of laughing so hard. She couldn’t imagine herself being in Nafisa’s shoe. “How did you know he saw your happy dance and heard you?”

“Out of the blue he appeared and said excuse me, sorry for interrupting you but I believe you have dropped your pen!”

She roared with laughter and continued, “I could have sworn that very moment my body was temporarily paralyzed! He was trying hard to suppress his laughter when he gave my pen back and in fact, he did laugh a bit and his face turned as red as a tomato! Oh my god! I really wish the ground would swallow me up that time!”

She got up while covering her face with her hands and screamed, “Aaaaaaa..the humiliation!I think I will start wearing the brown paper bag as long as I live in this campus!

Zara let out a huge guffaw while shaking her head. A smile from a person who is really special could engender insanity, madness and absolutely the perpetual happiness.

Despite the downright embarrassment, she had never seen that smile on Nafisa’a face before. The smile which was filled with an incandescent glow.
