Mummy

Kuching, Sarawak, Home, A Place Like No Other. // 09 May 2010 // by Adrian Lim // 2 people like this story
She is always a never ending inspiration, warm to be close to (even when she is angry), and someone who catches your attention whenever she walks into a room. I don't think she has ever disappointed me once, not ever, not at all, with the things she's done for the past 26 years of my existence.

Truth be told, there was a couple of times i recalled when she annoyed me and made me very angry to the point i uttered the words "I HATE YOU" which i didn't mean of course. I never meant to hurt her. It was due to my unstable hormones which sparked the uncontrollable anger that made me said that regrettable sentence. Even so, she was very forgiving.

There was this one time, when i turned 16. She woke me up from sleep, an afternoon nap(i think), and took me into the kitchen. I was pretty much in a daze. As i was rubbing my eyes trying to wake myself up properly, she surprised me with a home-made chocolate cake with Christmas decorations on it, topped with colourful smarties and wished me a Happy Sweet 16 Birthday. That really woke me up and made my day.

Even when i was growing up, it was always easy to talk to her because she is very open about things. She's never kept the truth from me and would speak her mind.

Now and again, we still enjoy our segments of debates and lovely chats over the phone. She is always there to offer support and encouragement. Whenever you speak, she gives you the attention and offer advice (even when it's not needed). In addition, she has a wicked sense of humour.

I am lucky and proud because at the end of the day she is the only one i call MUMMY.
