The last of the crowd has finally left, leaving me alone with the cats. The kenduri was more somber than I thought.
"Well, at least the guests enjoyed the briyani." I smiled weakly to myself, looking around the empty house.
The cats began crowding around the kitchen floor to savour the leftover briyani. Tompok, who is heavily pregnant with her third litter would occasionally come over and rub herself around my ankles. She was Joe's favourite among our broad of fifteen feline "kiddies." After all, they are the same as children, right? They need to be fed and cleaned after. The thought of being childless after twelve years of marriage was immediately wiped off from my mind. "
It's not my fault, despite what everyone says behind my back!"
At that thought, three of the cats began to tug around a piece of meat, each eagerly trying to have the seemingly priced piece for itself. The huge periuk which was filled with briyani earlier this evening was now empty and crusty, waiting for a good FAB buku scrub.
"I'll worry about all this kitchen stuff tomorrow lah. All this kenduri affair thingy is just so tiring!"
So, I left the cats to their scrumptious dinner and walked past the living hall to retire upstairs. The TV was still on, but I'm too tired to bother. I can hear the late night news being read as I moved up the parquet stairs.
